kongcpa on "MA State - Work Experience Letter, format??"

HI ALL!!!

I’ve finally received the congratulatory letter from the MA state board, and I’ve started gathering the items needed for my full reporting license application (Massachusetts).

Since I passed the exam after I left the public accounting firm, I contacted my former employer HR service for the work experience letter, and they told me to provide a work experience form or letter that they can fill out and sign, but the MA state application package doesn’t include anything like that. It only states the following:

“5. Experience letter(s): Letter describing the applicant’s experience must be attested to, under the pains and penalties of perjury, signed by a CPA partner or shareholder of the CPA firm where experience was obtained. Experience letter must be on CPA firm letterhead, currently dated (within 1 year) and addressed to the MA Board. Experience letter must provide the exact employment dates, if employment is full-time or part-time and also include completion of 1000 hours in report function on full disclosure financial statements, of which not more than 300 hours consist of full disclosure compilations. Experience letter and signature must be original and must be included with the application..”

I’ve also found out that some states do actually have certification of work experience form included in the application package, but apparently not in MA State’s.

Does anyone know what format I should use, or is there any work experience form for MA? Also, should my employer mail the letter directly to the board, or can I submit it along with my application?

Thanks in advance!!
